Background

One of the main processes in the manufacture of steel gears is heat treating.  However, due to the complexity of the heat treating process and the high up front costs to install heat treating equipment, many gear manufacturers have decided to outsource this operation.

UGA invested heavily in our heat treat capability and capacity. By making this an important "value added" part of our operation, we have been able to control quality and delivery much more closely.

Result

UGA is able to provide finished gears from start to finish at one facility with single source responsibility.  UGA is also able to make adjustments and tweak processes as needed by the customer.
